“This is the opportunity of a lifetime, something that will allow your child to truly explore their opportunities in the future.”
I often use this line during calls with parents when talking about enrolment at Valenture Institute. It does not act as a platitude or cliche that one would use as part of a marketing “shtick”. Rather, I can say with all sincerity that what Valenture Institute offers is beyond our current grasp of a ‘normal’ education.
I come from a traditional, suburban, South African education: a public school that is over a century old with prestige and name recognition to boot. I still hold my alma mater in high esteem but it is a school that is a product of an entirely different era of education. We can praise older, established institutions of education for their ability to continually provide good, reasonable training and guidance to students, generation after generation. However, there is a missing link in many of these schools: necessary change.
WATCH: How to Apply
The world in 2020 is one that would be unrecognisable to someone who, for example, finished school in 1990. Our globalised world has evolved and changed immeasurably in the last two decades, and the children of today are changed as a result. The high school students of 2020 face different hurdles and considerations, as compared to their parents and this generational change is exacerbated by conditions like COVID-19. This is something I’ve heard many times over the phone: “COVID woke us up to the realities of a world where technology held all the possibilities.”
Valenture Institute commenced operation over a year ago, and here we stand in October 2020: an established outlet for high-quality education, using an internationally-recognised curriculum, top-notch teachers and support staff, and an attitude that says we will always try our best to provide the best possible educational opportunities.
As an admissions team, we hear all of the tales and stories of our parents and students, and this feedback helps harden our goal. The critical value to Valenture Institute is that we are aware of our surroundings throughout. This eyes-open approach allows us to grow according to our environment, with innovation in mind. Feedback mechanisms are often discarded as arbitrary or irrelevant: at Valenture, they are the Google Maps of our business, allowing us to see the best route forward.
